CARSON, Calif. (AP) Jose Erik Correa scored on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute and Chivas USA beat the Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 on Saturday night in the SuperClasico. The victory, in front of a sellout crowd of 18,800 at the Home Depot Center, was Chivas’ first at home this season and first against their cross-hall rivals since 2007.

MONTREAL (AP) Dane Richards scored in the 67th minute with New York playing a man short, and the Red Bulls beat the Montreal Impact 2-1 on Saturday night to extend their winning streak to five games. Richards pounced on a rebound in close and put the ball under the crossbar, beating fellow Jamaican star Donovan Ricketts. ”I was just in the box, lurking around, and the ball popped out to me and I just knocked it home,” Richards said.

Rugby Union: Boost for Reds' play-off hopes
The Queensland Reds’ hopes of sneaking into the Super Rugby finals have received a major boost, with the reigning champions defeating the Lions 34-20 on Saturday. The Reds, bolstered by the return from injury of superstar Quade Cooper, started slowly but they secured the only five-pointer of the first half through back-rower Liam Gill to take a 13-6 lead into the break. Queensland scored three tries in the opening 15 minutes of the second half to secure the all-important bonus point and virtually seal the contest before taking their foot off the accelerator in the final stages against a Lions side that never gave up.

NEW YORK (AP) Lakers guard Steve Blake and his wife have been attacked online since he missed a possible game-winning 3-pointer against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal . The Twitter accounts of Blake and his wife, Kristen, were deluged with a range of criticism after the loss Wednesday night. ”I hope your family gets murdered” read one post that Kristen Blake re-tweeted with the comment, ”Wow.” Kobe Bryant took to Twitter early Friday to chastise those attacking the Blakes, saying ”Lakers fans who said bad things to Blake and his wife on twitter – you should be ashamed of yourself.” Bryant said that Blake was a big reason the Lakers beat the Nuggets in the first round.
