Disgraced rugby star Willie Ripia is eyeing a comeback to rugby this year. The former first five-eighth told friends he was deciding whether to return to action in the ITM Cup – four months after he was caught stealing from his teammates at the Western Force Super Rugby team. Ripia has been receiving counselling for gambling addiction since then.

Relegation or the merger of two teams appear the only options as the South African Rugby Union again met with its Super 15 sides yesterday about the problem of having six contenders for five places next year. Saru held talks with representatives of the five teams in the Super 15 and the Southern Kings, and although the governing body is seeking to ensure no team would be “damaged” by a solution, it’s doubtful that can happen. Wallabies rugby coach Deans wary of Wales threat
AFP – Wallabies coach Robbie Deans said Tuesday he was under no illusion about the threat posed by Six Nations champions Wales , admitting they are fired up and out to prove a point against Australia . The Welsh, who play the first of three Tests against the Wallabies in Brisbane on June 9, were beaten by Australia in the bronze play-off match at last year’s World Cup.
